It would be daily I get asked about how I stay fit… What’s my secret? It doesn’t matter at the gym or out and about.
The first thing is, I have the same amount of hours in the day as everyone else. So I prioritise exercise and healthy eating at the top of my list virtually every day. But I find ways to creatively fit it in.
My Daily Routine – Start of typical day
Before my eyes have even opened I’ll have a glass of lemon or lime water and a packet of a product called reserve (resveratrol – there are a couple of blog articles here you can check out). A short meditation and priming where I feel grateful for things in my life, I mentally prepare what I want to achieve for the day and allow myself to connect to the world.
Gym routine is broken up into weights sessions or functional training. The past year my focus has been on functional training for agility and mental strength. Reframing your focus with exercise changes how you associate with it. If you struggling, how do you associate with exercise? Cooldown includes a warrior yoga routine learnt from Mark Divine an ex-navy seal. After Gym, home for eggs and coffee.
Midmorning a green smoothie/ juice of green goodness
- I stick celery
- 1 leaf kale
- 1 apple
- A teaspoon of chia seeds
- Add water to taste. I’ll typically have total ingredients of 700mls
Big green salad or if there were leftovers from the night previous. Personally, I’ve found that if you prepare the salad the night before and wrapped it with some cling wrap that I’ll be more likely to eat it.
Mid-afternoon is another large green smoothie or a green juice. I also like to schedule a meeting where we are walking or I use this time to walk and talk on the phone. Technology these days makes it so easy to be able to do most things with your phone and perfectly sync back to your main computer when you get back into the office. The walks are at a steady fast pace. This time is great to clear the head, talk over ideas, find solutions to challenges or make plans to work on the business.
Dinner is flexible depending on what is planned for the evening. Most nights, a large juice salad and fish. After dinner it’s back into developing content, preparing, making calls, presentations or actively looking for quality leaders who are wanting to change their current life situation. To prepare for sleep, reading from my kindle helps to unwind my mind followed by a short meditation, fallen asleep before my head is on the pillow.
